Shahid Islam is our Vice Chair and a host on B4B TV.
Shahid is a core founding member of the organisation and has been pivotal in the growth and vision of B4B.
In his substantive role, he is a Senior Research Fellow employed by the Bradford Institute for Health Research (NHS) with a special interest in community inclusive approaches. He is also Visiting Research Fellow with the University of Bradford. In 2015 Shahid was the winner of Bradford’s Community Star Award for outstanding services to the voluntary sector and in 2021 he won the Chief Scientific Officer’s Excellence in Healthcare Science Research and Innovation Award.
He combines a passion for participatory research and community activism which means B4B is able to pursue ideas and aspirations that are backed up by scientifically sound evidence which are in line with what Bradford’s various communities desire. He has authored award winning papers and has over 20 publications in many high impact scientific journals. His work has attracted wide-scale media and policy attention and has even featured in WHO reports.
Shahid was recently awarded with the accolade of Fellowship by the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) which means he is now able to collaborate with a global network of Fellows to support the aims of B4B.
